Once a year I always see to creating a self portrait of some kind. It has been a tradition of mine since 2003 and is something I plan to continue as long as I can. It's a fun and interesting way to watch myself grow, in more way than one.
This has been a strong year of 3D for me, and so for 2007 I sought to create a 3D self portrait. The thought was to create something realistic, but not without a touch of style. I never really like making myself too real, too often.
Thus, I created my model in as efficient way as possible; a low poly with a high poly twin providing normal maps. This was also a good experiement with textures and allowed me to explore sub-surface scattering more. The animation posted below is a sort of walkthrough of the model, with poly info, and some facial animation just for fun!
